Hammath Tiberias, Early Synagogues and the Hellenistic and Roman Remains
From the 2nd century CE onward, the centers of learning located at Tiberias, which included Hammath Tiberias, played a decisive role in the development of Jewish life and thought. The primary aim of this volume is to offer scholars, as well as interested laymen, a report on the excavations of one section of the city. This book will help to reconstruct a part of the country's past and to add significantly to our knowledge of Palestinian Jewish institutions, especially synagogues, in the early centuries of the Common Era.
